PITSS launches new PITSS.CON Release 22.1.1

Greater efficiency through more automation

Stuttgart / London / Troy 22.12.2022 – With PITSS.CON, the modernization expert PITSS has a product kit for the automated modernization of Oracle applications. The vision and motivation behind PITSS.CON is to support customers with the highest possible degree of automation during migration and to free up development teams to concentrate on the real challenges. Applications are analyzed, procedures are suggested, errors are minimized, thus increasing speed and quality many times over.

In December, PITSS is now launching the new release PITSS.CON 22.1.1.

The new Reports2Jasper Modeler

With the reaffirmation of JasperReports and the increasing demand for Oracle Reports 2 JasperReports migrations, this product in particular has been further developed. With the new Reports2Jasper Modeler, the efficiency in the migration of Oracle Reports to Jasper has been significantly increased. Technically, this is reflected in a wizard that now optimally supports subreports and generates more objects and more code in higher quality, which significantly reduces rework and maintenance effort.

The new Forms2APEX Modeler

The new Forms2APEX Modeler benefits significantly from the knowledge and testing of numerous Forms to APEX modernization projects. Thus, the key figures for the assessment of a Forms to APEX project have been optimized by appropriate values and information and upgraded in accuracy. At the end of the Oracle Forms to APEX assessment, the customer now has an even more accurate and extremely reliable project plan. Thanks to the new Forms2APEX Modeler, an almost impenetrable modernization project full of doubts and question marks becomes a transparent and calculable project with a guarantee of success.

The new Analyzer

Once again, the analysis capability via objects and dependencies has been further expanded even in highly complex applications. This means that even more code and data components can be analyzed with the Analyzer. The Analyzer is continuously designed for new functions and features of current releases and customer-specific development elements such as function-based indices or risk assessment when using global variables in relation to the entire application. It achieves an identification degree of over 98% in massive applications. The extension of the syntax-sensitive components of the Analyzer provide each customer with further valuable details and information for a reliable decision-making process according to the situation.

The new Documents

The new Documents has mock-ups (object-exact sketches of all application masks) of the respective application. These mockups are assigned to each recorded process flow and its individual work steps, so that the operation and navigation through the application can be understood in a documented manner. The illustrated process flows with a high level of visual identification make it much easier for employees of the specialist departments and new, even inexperienced users to find their way around the technical documentation and to exert an immediate, qualified influence. This visualized documentation also provides an automatic link back to the application, such as the actual data objects, triggers and/or program functions.

Especially the linking back from the documentation to the application in the program code in the sense of a dynamic, always up-to-date software documentation is of enormous importance for developers or development teams. After all, applications where you have lost track – because they are old and/or the original developers are no longer on board – cost an infinite amount of time and represent a growing risk in maintenance, servicing and further development. What a gigantic time-saver for every developer and decision-maker if they can fall back on dynamic documentation with retrograde procedures. In the shortest possible time, developers can bring themselves up to a comprehensive, always up-to-date status of an application, which is not possible with ordinary documentation, even if they have not co-developed it themselves. With applications of several million lines of code, this is an incredible relief for developers.

The new Process Manager

The PITSS.CON Release 22.1.1 is rounded off by the new features in the Process Manager. In its latest version, this offers the option of adding files to a process recording. This allows a user to save any files such as PDFs, screen videos, documents, images, etc. to the respective recorded process or its process steps. These added files are then available to all stakeholders, the developers, architects or a specialist department and can be used and expanded by them. The result is a process-oriented documentation of the entire application, which minimizes risks, makes many things more effective and easier to understand.

A master release PITSS.CON 23.1.1 is expected in mid-2023. New intelligent algorithms, recognized data collection methods and visual representations will significantly enhance this release. The new features are developed within the framework of the PITSS’ research project SoftProc, which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research BMBF, together with the chair of Prof. Reichert at the University of Ulm.
