When moving your PITSS.CON license from the old database to the new database, make sure that both databases are able to communicate with each other. If this is not the case, the following error will appear before the PITSS.CON move begins:
Database link is invalid! Please verify the tnsnames.ora of the new database to contain the alias %OLD_DB_SERVICE_NAME% to the old database. ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
Receiving this error will prohibit you from continuing the PITSS.CON move.
To fix this problem, make sure that tnsnames.ora contains the entries for both the old database (where PITSS.CON is currently) and the new database (to where you plan to move PITSS.CON). The tnsnames.ora file should be present in the following locations:
- On the database server where the new database is located
- On the database server where the old database is located
- On the PC/server with Forms and Reports 11g/11gR2 where you are installing PITSS.CON
Make sure that the tnsping and sqlplus tests work in those environments. When all the tests are passed, restart the PITSS.CON installer and try the PITSS.CON move again. The error should not appear this time.
