Oracle WebLogic and Forms 11g Setup Prerequisites for HP UNIX

1.     Minimum System Requirements

1.1.    Supported Operating Systems:

1.1.1. HP UNIX 11i – Itanium-2 – 64 bit – 11.23

1.1.2. HP UNIX 11i – Itanium-2 – 64 bit – 11.31

1.1.3. HP UNIX 11i – PA-RISC – 64 bit – 11.23

1.1.4. HP UNIX 11i – PA-RISC – 64 bit – 11.31

1.2.    RAM: 4GB+

1.3.    HDD Partitioning:

1.3.1. At least 30GB of free space for the installation directory where you want 11g WebLogic and Forms Installed

1.3.2. At least 1GB of free TEMP space

1.3.3. At least 3GB of free SWAP space

1.4.    Root user access will need to be available

1.5.    A operating system user will need to be accessible for installing WebLogic and Forms.
Note for UNIX-Based installations: the operating system user that we will be installing WebLogic as, will need to have ownership and full file access of the file system directory that WebLogic is to be installed in.

1.6.    Open File Limits:

“soft nofile” must be set to at least 4096

                “hard nofile” must be set to at least 4096

2.     Required Packages and System Updates

2.1. HP UNIX 11i Itanium-2 64-bit (11.23):

2.4. HP UNIX 11i PA-RISC 64-bit (11.31):

3.     Software Requirements

3.1.    HP JDK 1.6.0.08+

3.1.1. Can be downloaded from: https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=HPUXJAVAHOME

3.1.2. For UNIX-Based systems we recommend to install this prior to the WebLogic and Forms installation.

3.2.    Database Requirements

3.2.1. Version 11g Recommended for 11g Forms, 10gR2 is the minimum required version.

3.2.2. We’ll need a database user with DBA privileges accessible.

3.2.3. The database will need CTXSYS user installed on the database where the PITSS.CON Repository will run.

3.2.4. A Database will be needed to store the PITSS.CON Repository. The database MUST be a locally installed database.

3.3.    Webutil and JACOB Install Scripts

3.3.1. Please contact PITSS at 248-740-0935 or pitssam-support@pitss.com for download instructions.

3.4.    For an 11g Forms installation you will need to download the following software:

3.4.1. WebLogic 10.3.4

3.4.1.1.              Can be downloaded from: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/wls-main-097127.html

3.4.1.2.              After accepting the license agreement, scroll down to Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.4. Do NOT install 10.3.5. Below the 10.3.5 installers you will see a plus box next to “Oracle Weblogic Server 10.3.4”. Click the plus box next to “See all files” and more options will be available.

3.4.1.3.              The ‘Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 Coherence Package Installer’ is the recommended installer of choice.

3.4.1.4.              Please download the file that corresponds to your system OS.  Note for 64-bit Unix, the “Generic” Installer will need to be downloaded.

3.4.2. Forms 11.1.1.2

3.4.2.1.              Can be downloaded from: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/fmw-11-download-092893.html

3.4.2.2.              Please download the setup files that correspond to your system OS.

3.4.3. Forms 11.1.1.4

The following steps will help guide you through Oracle’s Support website to find the Forms 11.1.1.4 Patch set. This is the only Oracle Website location where the Forms 11.1.1.4 Patch set can be downloaded.

3.4.3.1.              Go to support.oracle.com

3.4.3.2.              Login with your Oracle OTN Login that has your organization’s “oracle support identifier” that lets you download “Patches & Updates”

3.4.3.3.              Click on “Patches & Updates”

3.4.3.4.              Click on “Product or Family” link in the “Search” tab.

3.4.3.5.              Please specify the three values in the screen shot below to help locate the Forms 11.1.1.4 Patch set.
Product: “Developer Forms”
Release: “FMW 11.1.1.4.0”
Platform: Platform of choice (HP-UX Itanium is the 64-bit version)

3.4.3.6.              Click on “Search”

3.4.3.7.              Select the “ Oracle  Fusion Middleware Family: Patchset, FMW 11g PS3 (11.1.1.4) For Portal, Forms, Reports, and Disco”, for your platform of choice. The example below is for HP-UX Itanium (64-bit).

3.4.3.8.              The patch set is approximately 1.9 GB in file size, thus the file may take a while to download.
