My Colleage Scott did a gain a great Job on evaluating a new Patch from Oracle that supports now Internet Explorer 11 for Forms and ADF.

Here are his findings:

Just recently, Oracle has added the certification of Internet Explorer 11 with the latest version of Oracle Forms and Reports 11gR2 and Oracle ADF 11g. […]. However, before you can start using IE 11 with the latest version of Forms, please review the below information:

  • For Oracle Forms, only Forms & Reports 11.1.2.2.0 is supported. Older 11gR2 versions and any 11gR1 (11.1.1.x.0) version including 11.1.1.7.0 is still not supported at this time. If a customer has a requirement of using IE 11, they will need to upgrade to the latest version of 11gR2 (11.1.2.2.0) which involves:

o   If you are using Forms 11gR1: You will need to install a new environment with Forms 11gR2. Forms 11gR1 users are recommended to upgrade to 11gR2 as premier support for Forms 11gR1 ends in June 2014

o   If you are using an older Forms 11gR2 version such as 11.1.2.0.0 or 11.1.2.1.0: You will need to patch the existing 11gR2 environment to the latest 11gR2 version 11.1.2.2.0. No new installations are required at all.

  • For Oracle ADF, only ADF 11.1.1.7.0, 11.1.2.4.0 (we use this version for ADF Mobile), and the latest 12c ADF are supported.
  • The oracle_common directory in the Middleware home will need to be patched with Oracle Patch 18277370. This can be downloaded from My Oracle Support (Metalink). The installer can be used in any supported OS as it is a generic installer. Although it says it is for FMW 11.1.1.7.0, this can be applied to Forms 11gR2 and ADF 11.1.1.7.0. NOTE: For ADF 11.1.2.4.0, you will need to apply Oracle Patch 18277436 instead.

o   If you are not using JDeveloper, you only need to apply the patch to the oracle_common for the Middleware home

o   If you are using JDeveloper, you will need to apply the patch to both the JDeveloper home and the oracle_common Oracle home.

o   IMPORTANT: Please review the README file before applying any Oracle patch.

  • Only JRE 7u40 or higher is supported in IE 11. If you are using an older JRE, you will need to use JRE 7u40+ before you can use Forms with IE 11.
  • Windows 8 is still not supported at this time.

I have tested the patch in one of my Forms 11.1.2.2.0 environment. I was able to install the patch successfully. After this, I had no problems running both our test form and PITSS.CON using Internet Explorer 11. I was using JRE 7u45.

Thanks Scott for the great work.
