Summary

In addition to our latest Module Source Code Analytics  in PITSS.CON, a Life Cycle Management Tool for Oracle Forms and Reports, we created complex Analyses as a Service to support Forms Customers to better understand the Software, simplify Maintenance, increase Quality and estimate Modernization Projects. There are six different Analyses possible, that provide you with the key numbers to get an overview of your current situation and enable you to plan future development and changes. Lets take a detailed look into the different possible Analyses.

Overview

Lets start with an Overview of all possible Analyses:

Analyses_Overview

Here you can already see, that we do have very specific Analyses for the various challenges that you face in software development and modernization.

It all starts with the Status Quo that put the size of an Application into perspective of Number of Module, Number of Objects, Size of Modules and Objects to the Program Structure and Lines of Code / Lines of Documentation.
This gives you a good impressions of the Complexity of your Forms Application.

Based on the Status Quo Analysis you can run a Quality or Development or both Analyses, dependent on you target.

The Quality Analysis provides you with information about the Software Quality and Complexity of your Application, based on Standard Metrics like McCabes Cyclomatic Complexis from 1976,  Halstead Complexity Measures from 1977 or the Maintainability Index designed at the University of Idaho in 1991 by Oman and Hagemeister. With this information you can create an action plan to increase the Maintainability, improve the Quality and reduce the Complexity of your Application.
Also the Development Analysis contains key values to improve the Quality, but in contrast to complexity, it covers Security and Stability Issues. It also provides you with a general Documentation of the current state of your Forms Application.

The other three Analyses cover the Oracle Forms and Reports Modernization.
In the Forms Upgrade Analysis you get a detailed Estimation and Project Steps to plan your Budget and Timeline to upgrade from any Oracle Forms and Reports Version to the latest.
Migration Projects to ADF of APEX are much more Complex than a straight forward Forms Upgrade, because you are changing technology. In order to acknowledged the higher complexity, the Forms2ADF and Forms2APEX Migration Analyses are also provide data and views of the complexity, the usage of Libraries, Redundancies and Dead Code and Objects of the Application. With this key values you will be able to estimate and plan your Migration Project and make sure to stay in time and budget.

The Base of the Analyses – PITSS.CON

We load your application in the repository-based analysis tool PITSS.CON with the unique functionality of the module PITSS.CON Source Code Analytics (SA). In a parsing process, all the objects in your application and their dependencies are identified and made available for analysis.

Since PITSS.CON inspects the entire source code (forms, reports, libraries, database objects, scripts, etc.), the algorithms provide a very detailed insight into the structure, scope and complexity of the application.

With the PITSS.CON Repository, Oracle Forms and Reports applications of any size and complexity can be managed, developed and re-engineered. The heart of PITSS.CON is an innovative, unique Oracle-based repository that is able to understand and manipulate applications at the finest granular level. At the same time, 100% consistency and adherence to standards for the processed applications are ensured.

The PITSS.CON Technology Base is the underlying base technology for the entire PITSS.CON development platform that opens the way for a wide range of functions for the entire life cycle management of Oracle applications.
